The type of work is often part-time, so after school for an hour (eg 3.30pm to 4.30pm), perhaps two or three times a week. If you are really good and schools love what you offer, you can see this expand to every night of the week! The activities often take a ‘workshop’ type format, where you are free to plan, prepare and deliver your activities over a six to ten week programme depending upon schools requirements, and of course your abilities.
Am I suitable?
If you have a really exciting, interesting, specialist skill or hobby that you think children will enjoy doing, then we would certainly like to speak with you. In the past, Instructors have delivered, flag poi, juggling, circus skills, bollywood, free running, graffiti art and more! Of course we also deliver the more mainstream activities such as, football, tag rugby, basketball, martial arts, athletics, short tennis, qwik cricket etc.
The type of work often suits students and those already with part-time jobs or those who only want part time work. Graduates and undergraduates often seem to enjoy this type of work as it acts as a supplement to their other sources of income, however you certainly do not need to be a graduate!
Beyond having something to offer our local schools, ideally you should have some experience of working with children. This type of work is very demanding and tiring and certainly requires good behaviour management skills, but is also an awful lot of fun and very rewarding!
Finally, as these roles involve working with children, you will be expected to be of impeccable good character and you will need to undergo a thorough vetting procedure before working with the children. The vetting procedure involves; checking your identity, CRB check, reference checks and eligibility to work in the UK.
So, if you think you have the ability to deliver an extended school activity, why not get in touch with us and let us know! Maybe you can even offer us something completely different, if so contact us as we’d love to hear from you!
